Kim walked through the door smiling, the kind of smile that you turn to watch, impish and perky, her whole face involved with the smile. During our photo shoot, I suggested once or twice that she not smile -- maybe just grin -- and she looked at me with laughter and replied that wasn’t possible. Cancer doesn’t define Kim. It’s just what is going on now...when she’s not horseback riding, walking, lifting and hopefully soon back to racquetball. And it doesn't define her when she’s having chemotherapy through the port that rests just beneath the skin near her shoulder. “We’re looking past this,” she said. Looking past the cancer. Onto what’s next. Yes.
Why is this called Beyond Beauty? I've never been a fan of beauty as defined in the media or advertising. If we look at wrinkles and hair, breasts and scars, we don't look to what makes a woman beautiful.
This is beauty.
